5 Simple & Sustainable Ways to Decorate Seasonally
Written by: Naomi Middleton
Decorating for every season is definitely a fun tradition. It is amazing how simple seasonal decorations make a house feel fresh and new each season. However, seasonal decorations can not only be expensive but difficult to store. Over the years, we have found that there are some really easy and fun seasonal decorations that not only don’t take up much storage space but also aren’t super expensive. Here are some of our favorites.
Digital Artwork
Digital artwork is a great and sustainable way to refresh your home every season. I invested in some high-quality frames and then just switch out the artwork depending on the season. It is amazing how artwork makes a room look completely different. Not only can you find some really good deals on art prints but they are super easy to store. I just keep any art print that I want to keep in the frame and add the new art print in front of it. That way I don’t have to use up any additional storage space.
Throw Pillow Covers
A few years ago, I discovered throw pillow covers and absolutely fell in love with their versatility and practicality. They are so much easier to store than pillows with permanent inserts. I simply switch out a few of my patterned pillow covers every season and it makes such a big difference.
Scented Candles
Seasonally scented candles are also a great way to refresh your home every season. Not only do they make your home smell like the season but depending on the candle, they can even add some seasonal color.
Artificial Stems
Artificial stems are probably some of my favorite seasonal decorations. I have about four large vases throughout my house. It is so easy to just switch out the stems every season. It is amazing what such a simple change does to a room. For me personally, it is important to invest in good quality stems so that they last and also look real.
Throw Towels
Throw towels are a simple and sustainable way to add a fun seasonal touch to your home. Not only are they pretty inexpensive but they are easy to store. I love adding seasonal towels to our bathrooms and kitchen. Most of the time they are not explicitly seasonally. In the spring, I might add some light-colored towels. And then in the fall, I would swap them out for warmer tones.
